A Memorandum of Understanding is signed between Central Denmark Region and two hospitals of Shanghai

picture12Since year 2000, officials from Aarhus County and CDR have visited Huashan and Yueyang Hospital in Shanghai. In March 2009, a group of officials and professors from Aarhus University Hospital and Regionshospitalet Hammel Neurocenter visited them again and extended the relationship.

Both Danish and Chinese partners are interested in cooperation and learning from each other. In the MoU, they finally identified 5 areas of collaboration within neurosurgery, PET, acupuncture, nursery etc:
1. A 3 months neurosurgical residence program in surgical skills at Huashan Hospital, Fudan University for Danish trainees with minimum 4 years of neurosurgical speciality training.

2. An exchange study program in radiochemistry and radio physics in positron emission tomography for personnel from the PET-Centre, Huashan Hospital at Aarhus University Hospital for 3 months.

3. Options for collaborative studies between Huashan Hospital and Aarhus University Hospital within pharmacokinetics of antiepileptic therapy, widening of the thrombolysis treatment window using MRI, future DBS-treatment in Parkinson’s disease and development of the potential for stem cell treatment.

4. A joint-venture study on the effect on acupuncture performed by doctors from Yue Yang Hospital/Shanghai University of TCM or Huashan Hospital/Fudan University on spasticity at Regionshospitalet Hammel Neurocenter, Aarhus University Hos-pital.

5. A nursing study program in establishing the clinical pathway of nursing care and functional measures of neurological rehabilitation for nurses from Huashan and Yue Yang Hospitals at the Stroke Unit, Aarhus University Hospital.

We hope through all the visits and cooperations it will  boost medical knowledge exchange between Danish and Chinese sides, strengthen the relationship and improve research and development.
