CDR Rehab Evaluation Team to Shanghai
A team of therapists from CDR went on an evaluation trip to Shanghai Sunshine Rehabilitation Centre during 5-10, September 2011, starting a new meaningful collaboration on rehabilitation between Shanghai and CDR.
Collaboration within the rehabilitation/disability sector is now one of the focus areas between CDR and Shanghai. Since 2005 Shanghai Disabled Persons’ Federation and CDR partners have collaborated in the rehab sector. There has been an exchange of training delegations, speakers and physiotherapists in both regions, and several other fruitful activities for the benefit of both parties.
The new initiative of having an evaluation of their rehab practice in Sunshine Rehabilitation Centre in Shanghai was developed by the constant discussion and negotiation between Sunshine Centre and CDR during the last year.
The evaluation team from CDR consisted of four therapists – two physiotherapists and two occupational therapists from Aarhus University Hospital and from Marselisborg Centre. They stayed in Sunshine Centre for almost a week and worked with local therapists in different departments. Not only the staying and working together was a learning process for both sides, but also the Danish therapists would do a report for the centre and pinpoint where and how they can improve the rehab practice.
While the Danish therapists were amazed by the modern facilities of the centre and the passion for learning from the local therapists, the centre and the local therapists also expressed their appreciation for being able to work with the Danish team.
“The therapists have unique insights about rehabilitation. They are experienced to deal with any problems by more than twenty years working in that field. Their passion and concentration are praiseworthy. I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciating to the members of the Danish delegation who spend almost one week working with us, and I sincerely hope more and more therapists in mainland China can benefit from such a fruitful exploration of their professional and personal lives”.
