Central Denmark Region opens doors in Shanghai

Central Denmark Regions cooperation with Shanghai city-province is now beneficial for the Central Denmark Region tool producers. Danish Rehab Group and six firms have recently visited Shanghai and “China Aid” Exhibition, and the Region has put companies in touch with potential Chinese partners.

The areas of rehabilitation and assistive devices have in the course of 2011 brought additional focus of the cooperation between Central Denmark Region and Shanghai.

The rehab area is a growing market in China, this fact combined with the fact that the region for several years has had close contact with Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau and Shanghai Disabled Persons Federation makes a good cocktail for helping the central Jutland companies approaching the Chinese marked. Good relationships and networking are essential for creating business in China, the region’s cooperation with influential institutions in the area of rehabilitation benefit the Mid-Jutland companies in their entry into the Chinese market.

Networking Dinner
In the past month the trade association Danish Rehab Group and six Central Jutland tool manufacturers have been in Shanghai for “China Aid” Exhibition. The region organized under the fair day a networking dinner where the central Jutland assistive device manufacturers got the chance to meet potential collaborators and decision makers from Shanghai.
It was an evening that gave businesses valuable contacts and knowledge of the Chinese rehabilitation market.

“The Exhibition participation was for many an eye opener that promises well for the future. The region proved to be a practical organization that is skilled to support the participating companies. Door opener
The company R82 located in Gedved, Central Denmark Region, produces aids for disabled children and teenagers, used their stay in Shanghai to visit one of the region’s partners Assistive Tools Center, and a rehabilitation hospital and a tool shop.

Key Account Manager at R82, Mads Jakob Have:
“We appreciate the way the region supported us at the Exhibition. The region was a door opener to important contacts in Shanghai, ” says Mads Jakob Have.

“We got a better insight into how the buying process takes place, and we managed to book a meeting at a hospital. At the same time we had generated interest around our products from the leaders at rehab center. Finally we got specific information about an upcoming project that we hope can become a part of. It concerns a project for 2,500 families who all have a child with cerebral palsy (spastic paralysis), ” he adds.

Pleased about the outcome
Regional Council Chairman Bent Hansen is delighted that it has been possible to create so many new Danish-Chinese relations.
“It is gratifying that companies benefits from the relationships we have built in Shanghai through the last eight years. That’s the whole point of our work, ” he says.

Keynote speaker
It is the sixth year that Shanghai is hosting the “China Aid” Exhibition, exhibiting equipment from home – and abroad. The 4th-6th November 2011 a similar exhibition takes place in Beijing, and Denmark is the partner country in organizing the fair. Because of the region’s rehabilitation work in China the regional chairman Bent Hansen is invited to be one of the keynote speakers at the show along with the Danish ambassador to China, Friis Arne Petersen, and the Chinese Deputy Social Affairs Minister. The region will support the fair participation with various seminars and training activities with the Central Denmark Region tool manufacturers.
