MidtExpo Success: The Breakthrough
Central Denmark Region (CDR)’s week long Expo event MidtExpo ended with success. The chairman of CDR, Bent Hansen, calls it: “A Breakthrough”. Both government officials and company representatives from Denmark were very positive about the activities during the whole week. Everybody seems to share the feeling that more collaporation between CDR and Shanghai will be a fact in the future.
Matching of Danish-Chinese Partners
Companies focusing on health care and clean tech were chosen from CDR and greater Shanghai area to meet each other. The program for them included diverse arrangements: They had seminar TAKE CARE (take care of environment, health, Intellectual Property); they visited Vestas, a world-leading company in wind energy industry; they had 1-1 match-making meetings. They visited Hospitals, Shanghai Clean Energy Research Industry Promotion Center so on and so forth. The participants expressed their appreciation of the different arrangements and said they absolutely gained a lot from it: new perspectives in doing business with Chinese partners, good discussions and new contacts.
Government Perspective – expanding the collaboration
The CDR high level government delegation led by Chairman Mr. Bent Hansen had a rather intensive program for the week. They met with the Vice Mayor Mr. Tang Dengjie, the Health Bureau and the Civil Affairs Bureau of Shanghai. The meetings are fruitful. Mr. Bent Hansen stressed the importance of expanding and strengthening the collaborations especially in the areas of health care/life science, clean energy/environment and ICT (information communication technology). The Shanghai Partners agreed. An agreement to make a Memorandum of Understanding in the area of Civil Affairs was one of the results of the week.
To expand the cooperation with Shanghai, CDR has allocated 10 million RMB to networking and joint project activities within the 3 areas during the next 3 years. The response from Shanghai side was very encouraging. Genuine interests to strengthen the collaborations were shown. The ambition of Shanghai to become a “Betty City” and to give people a “Better life” is absolutely the same as CDR.
MidtExpo ended with a lot of fruits and these fruits are the beginning of another round of progress. CDR is confident to meet the future global challenges going hand in hand with Shanghai.
